So here it is, the £20 lipstick from Bellapierre I received via the post this morning from the lovely July edition of Glossybox. It was American themed, tying in with the 4th of July celebrations. The box was SO pretty so I've added it to my GB collection where I horde all the special edition boxes for storage purposes.
It smells delicious. I know that may sound weird, but as soon as I popped the top off I could just smell this chocolate type smell.
It glides on, and is super moisturising. It is matte but it hasn't dried out my lips, so it passes the matte test. I cannot abide lipsticks that dry out my lips after a days worth of wear. The colour is long lasting and does stain your lips a little, so when it wears off it doesn't look so patchy. It's in the shade 'Mandarina' which I think is just posh for jail bird orange.
The packaging is really nice and solid feeling. I am a big sucker for pretty packaging, it really does sway me when it comes to purchasing things, shallow and a bit vane, yes, but it's just the way my brain is wired. The casing has a lovely lattice design and the lid clicks into place very securely so there's not losing half of it in your handbag...
However colour was a little off putting, it's not something I would go out and buy, certainly not for £20 as it's way out of my comfort zone as it is bright, pumpkin ORANGE. I have worn it around the house today, and maybe I'll pluck up the courage to go and take it outside. I'm not sure what to pair it with, I'm a big lover of the darker more Gothic tones, and this just reminds me of a pumpkin! Hubby thinks I should save it for Halloween...
Considering it retails at £20 it is a fantastic looking and performing lipstick. Although I dislike the colour I got, I would definitely go and get another shade.
So any advice on how to wear orange lipstick would be greatly received! If any of you have tried Bellapiere before, how did you find them? And what's your favourite shade!? :-)
