Anyway, I had an accident with a LUSH bath bomb a couple of weeks ago... a rather purple/pink accident!

Meet Pheonix Rising... an attractive little bath bomb that smells AMAZING. I am in love with the hint of cinnamon and it left my skin feeling really soft, always a plus.
Sadly that's where my love affair is going to end, as much as I love the smell and the result, the excessive amount of glitter was too much. I tried desperately to hose myself down after my bath, but no, there was glitter EVERYWHERE (yup, literally everywhere...) By the time I'd dried myself off, it was covering the towel, bathmat and apparently ended up covering my poor Ginseng plant. To make matters worse it dyed my bath pink, which was sort of rectified with some GIF cream, numerous scrub downs later. I can't imagine what the landlady would have said but luckily she didn't notice when we moved out. I could have lost some of my deposit for having a bright pink bath! :-(
My skin smelt and felt amazing, but I now resembled something from Twilight. Only I didn't realise how bad it was until we went out for dinner and I'm staring at my reflection awkwardly in the bathroom, wondering why I have a glittery chest, chin and why did I look vaguely purple..? I also noticed it falling out of my hair when I was eating, it made my pasta sparkly too!
I didn't realise how bad the dye was until I got home either, I'd been in that much of a rush to get ready. (Took too long in the bath, oops!) It dyed my pale skin a little purple, but it wasn't an obvious purple so I hadn't noticed it at first. To top it all off I had a couple of patches of dermatitis, and the dye turned these an angry shade of purple. So I looked a mess... Oh man, never again.
So sorry LUSH! My brief love affair is ending here.
Oh no! I have been so looking forward to this one and have been saving it, but now I'm a scared. A similar thing happened to me with Cinders which made me streaky yellow, but this sounds much worse!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I have yet to try cinders... I will bear that in mind!
ReplyDeleteI've read that people have been breaking it in half and using it that way, and they don't seem to be pink/purple at the end... I definitely wouldn't use it just before a night out anyway! As for the bath... It only seemed to stain the corners, if you do try it, let me know how it turns out for you! *good luck* :-)
It really irritates me when lush put so much glitter in their bombs. And don't even get me started on bath staining. They do smell nice though.
ReplyDeleteThe bath staining is starting to worry me. I'm living with the in'laws at the moment and I'm too afraid to use a couple of Lush bombs incase I stain their bath permanently! If they didn't smell so nice, and make my skin feel brilliant I wouldn't bother with them half the time.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of that. Have you tried the butter ball? It's white and doesn't really stain. I had a black bomb at Halloween and it stained my bath something awful. I wish they wouldn't put so much glitter and colour in them.
ReplyDeleteOh no, is the black one the Soot Ball??? Because I forgot to use mine and its been sat on the windowsill for ages. I bought it because it had some really cute eyes and I suppose I couldn't face watching it melt! *sigh* I think I may have had another lucky escape!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Butter Ball is noted, I'll have a look out the next time I'm let loose in the LUSH shop :-)
Yeah it's the soot ball. It smelled really nice though. The eyes didn't melt. I've just bought a rabbit shaped bubble bar so fingers crossed it isn't too messy. X
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed, I'm dying to get some of their Easter stuff! Let me know if its messy! x
ReplyDeleteIt doesnt look too bad, not glittery anyway and its pink and white, sohope not. Generally the bubble bars I've had haven't been too bad. xx
ReplyDeleteI've only ever tried the comforter and the pumpkin (which I noticed they have now as 'the mumkin' how cute!) I do prefer the bubble bars to the bath bombs :-) x
ReplyDelete[…] I didn’t notice until I got home, but I have been assured there will be no incident like the Phoenix Rising bath bomb (which was enough to give me a glitter phobia!) It cost £3.50, which isn’t too […]
